Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Devjoy Ltd for using Tapescript. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you don't, please don't use the app.

The service

Tapescript records audio on your iPhone or iPad, running iOS 18 or later, and turns it into transcripts and summaries with key points and action items. Most of that happens in the cloud: when you stop, the recording is sent to our servers and on to Google's Gemini models, which write the transcript and the summary, as described in the Privacy Policy. A recording made with no connection is saved and written down when your device is back online. We may add, change or remove features as the app develops.

No account

Tapescript has no accounts. There is no sign-up and nothing to sign in to. Your notes are files in your own iCloud, under your Apple Account — or only on your iPhone if iCloud is off for Tapescript — and we keep no copy of them once your device has collected them. The app keeps a random identifier for your install, which is used to check your subscription and to count your usage. It is not tied to a name or an email address. Choosing "Delete all notes" in Settings is how your notes go; that cannot be undone.

Your content

Everything you record and everything Tapescript writes from it belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it, and we keep no lasting copy of it. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: your recording is sent to our servers and on to the providers listed in the Privacy Policy so the transcript and the summary can be written. Our servers never store the recording, hold the finished text only until your device collects it (7 days at most), and otherwise keep only counts of how much you have used. We do not use your recordings to train AI models, and we do not licence them to anyone.

You are responsible for what you record. Don't record people who haven't agreed to it where the law requires their consent, and don't use Tapescript for anything illegal, for harassment, or to process other people's personal data without a lawful basis.

Tapescript Pro

Tapescript can be tried for free. Beyond that it is a subscription, Tapescript Pro, and the following applies.

• The free plan. Three recordings or imported files in total, of up to 30 minutes each. That is once, not each month. Every one gets its transcript and its summary, with key points and action items; search, sharing and playback are free as well. A recording that stops at 30 minutes is still written down. Once the three are used, a new recording isn't transcribed until you subscribe; the app tells you before you record.
• What Pro includes. Up to 1,200 minutes (20 hours) of audio a month, and recordings and imported files of up to 3 hours each. Transcripts and summaries are the same on both plans. A weekly fair-use limit applies to summaries asked for again.
• What it costs. US$5.99 a month or US$49.99 a year. The price and billing period are shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy, in your local currency. The price shown at the moment of purchase is the price that applies.
• Who bills you. Apple. The charge goes to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
• Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period.
• Cancelling. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings, at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the rest of the period you have paid for stays active.
• Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple, not from us.

What the app can't promise

Transcription and summaries are produced by machine learning models. They misread words, mishear names and sometimes write summaries that are wrong or incomplete. Tapescript's output is a draft, not a record. Don't rely on it for medical, legal, financial or safety-critical decisions without checking the audio yourself.

The app is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it running and your notes safe, but we can't guarantee it will always be available, that every recording will succeed, or that a cloud provider will never have an outage. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — every note can be exported from the app.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data beyond what you paid.

If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.

Ending it

You can stop using Tapescript at any time by deleting the app, and delete your data from Settings. There is no account for us to close, but we may block a device from the cloud features if it breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk; where it's reasonable to do so, we'll tell you why first.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Tapescript after that means you accept the new terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the place you live.
